Seven things that matter when you embed creator videos, not 30 features no one uses.
Most embed tools squash TikTok videos into a horizontal player or letterbox them into a square frame. Poper preserves the native 9:16 vertical aspect ratio, autoplays muted on scroll into view (matching the standard TikTok mobile UX), loops continuously, and unmutes on tap. Your visitors get the same thumb-stopping experience they get inside the TikTok app, embedded on your domain.
TikTok's Display API streams videos from connected creator accounts. Hashtag campaigns work through authorized creators who tag your campaign hashtag, aggregated into one combined feed without scraping.
Autoplay starts muted to honor browser policy and the TikTok mobile convention. Tap-to-unmute reveals the original audio, and auto-generated captions from the Display API render below each video so the message lands even when the sound stays off.
Combine 2 or more authorized TikTok creator accounts into one feed. Built for influencer agencies, multi-brand companies, and creator collectives.
Card style, play icon, hover preview, caption display, and custom CSS. Your TikTok feed looks native to your site, not bolted on.
Tag products on creator videos so visitors can tap straight to the product page while the video keeps playing. Works on Shopify, WooCommerce, and custom stores.

A TikTok feed widget is the fastest way to bring the most-watched short-form video format on the open web onto your own domain without sending visitors out to the TikTok app. With over 1 billion monthly active users globally as of 2024, TikTok now drives more discovery for consumer brands than any other social network, and the For You Page algorithm consistently surfaces creator content that converts harder than studio-shot product photography. The hard parts are the ones nobody talks about until you ship: TikTok's Display API only opened to third parties in 2023, hashtag feeds are not officially supported through the API, vertical 9:16 playback breaks most embed templates that were designed for landscape video, and the autoplay sound-off convention is now baked into how creators design every video they post. This guide walks through what actually matters when you choose and configure a TikTok feed widget in 2026: API access and the ByteDance app-review process, vertical aspect ratio across desktop and mobile, autoplay UX and caption handling, hashtag campaign workarounds, and turning creator content into measurable commerce on your own site.
Until 2023, embedding TikTok content on a third-party site meant either dropping in the official oEmbed iframe one video at a time or web-scraping public profile pages, which is against ByteDance's terms of service and reliably blocked within hours of going to production. The Display API, released by ByteDance in 2023, was the first official path to read a creator's video list programmatically. The catch is that every app that wants to call the Display API has to file an app-review submission with ByteDance, get approved per use case, and accept usage-based rate limits enforced by token. Most small widget builders never finish that review process, which is why the third-party TikTok widget market is so much smaller than the Instagram one. Poper completed the Display API review and operates as an authorized app, which means creators connecting their TikTok account through Poper are using ByteDance's official OAuth Login Kit, the same flow they would see on any approved third-party app. We never store the creator's password, only a revocable access token, and the creator can revoke access any time from their TikTok privacy settings to immediately stop new videos from syncing. Any tool that claims to embed full TikTok feeds without an approved Display API app is either using the single-video oEmbed (no full feed, ugly and unbrandable), web-scraping (against terms of service, gets blocked frequently), or quietly relying on the official iframe behind the scenes (free but unbrandable). The difference between an authorized integration and a scraper matters more than most marketers realize, because a brand caught running scraped TikTok content can have its content rights challenged and its widget go dark with no warning.
TikTok creators shoot vertical because the entire app, the For You Page, the algorithm, the editing tools, and the trending sound library are designed around the 9:16 portrait frame. When an embed tool letterboxes a TikTok video into a square frame or, worse, crops it horizontally to fit a desktop blog layout, the visual storytelling that made the video work in the first place falls apart. Faces shift off-center, on-screen captions get clipped at the edges, the text overlays creators rely on become illegible, and the perceived production value drops by half. Worse, a horizontal crop signals to your visitor that the video was made for a different platform and just stuffed into yours, which kills the dwell time you were trying to win. The Poper TikTok widget preserves the native 9:16 ratio across every layout (Grid, Stage, FYP-style scroller, Wall, Magazine, Showcase), gives you control over how many vertical cards sit per row at each breakpoint, and renders crisp poster frames before the MP4 streams in so the layout never shifts. On mobile the result feels indistinguishable from the TikTok app itself, with the FYP-style scroller layout giving visitors the same swipe-to-next gesture they already know. On desktop the vertical cards sit elegantly in a multi-column grid the way Pinterest renders pins, with optional autoplay-on-hover that mirrors the desktop preview behavior creators expect from native TikTok embeds. Captions render below or overlaid on each card depending on the layout, and view counts, like counts, and creator handles can be shown or hidden per layout.
Every modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) blocks autoplay with sound by default to prevent unwanted noise on page load. That policy forced TikTok and every other vertical-video network to design around a sound-off-first viewing experience. Creators bake on-screen captions, large readable text overlays, and visual gags into every video because they know the majority of mobile short-form video plays start muted. A serious TikTok feed widget has to honor that convention end to end: autoplay muted on scroll into view, loop continuously through the duration of the video, surface the auto-generated captions where they are available from the Display API response, and unmute only on a clear tap or click that the visitor initiated. The Poper widget does all four out of the box. The other half of the autoplay UX puzzle is performance, and this is where most TikTok embed tools fall down. Vertical short-form videos are typically 8 to 60 seconds at 720p or 1080p, which is heavy on bandwidth if every video on the page tries to stream at once. We render the static poster frame from the Display API first so the layout settles instantly, lazy-load the MP4 only when the card scrolls within 200 pixels of the viewport, and unload videos that scroll back out to free memory. Lighthouse Mobile Performance on a page with 12 embedded TikToks consistently stays above 90, with LCP under 2.5 seconds and CLS under 0.1. The script itself is async, scoped, and gzipped under 45KB so it never blocks the main thread or affects your Core Web Vitals score.
On Instagram you can subscribe to a hashtag feed and pull every public post tagged with it, subject to Meta's rate limits and a small set of account-level permissions. On TikTok you cannot, and that surprises most marketers planning a UGC campaign for the first time. ByteDance's Display API does not expose a hashtag-search endpoint to third-party apps, by design. The closest thing the API offers is a video-list endpoint scoped to a single connected creator account, which means there is no official way for any third party to fan out across the network and pull every public TikTok tagged with your campaign hashtag. Hashtag campaign feeds on TikTok have to be assembled the long way: identify the creators who participated in your campaign, get explicit permission to embed their videos through Poper's built-in UGC opt-in flow, connect each authorized creator account through TikTok's Login Kit, and aggregate their tagged videos into one combined campaign feed filtered by hashtag in the Poper dashboard. It is more work than the Instagram hashtag feed motion you may be used to, but it is the only path that respects ByteDance's API terms and the creator's content rights. The upside of doing it the right way is that every video in your campaign feed is rights-cleared, which protects your brand if a creator later asks to be removed (the Display API supports clean removal in a single click). Poper's multi-creator feed feature handles the aggregation step automatically once each creator is connected, so the operational overhead drops to onboarding the creators rather than wrangling the data.
The For You Page rewards videos that hold attention, which is why creator-led product demos consistently outperform brand-shot product photography on conversion across every consumer category we have measured. The mechanic that turns a TikTok embed into revenue is shoppable tagging: connect a creator account, tag specific videos with product URLs from your store, and visitors can tap any tagged video to land on the product page with the video pre-loaded as a hero asset that keeps playing through the page transition. Poper supports shoppable creator videos on Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, and any custom store that exposes product URLs. Three patterns ship the most often. Direct-to-consumer brands embed creator review videos on the matching product page to lift add-to-cart rate, with the FYP-style scroller layout doing the heavy lifting because it mimics the swipe-to-next gesture visitors already know. Restaurants and food brands embed viral menu-item videos on the menu page (the TikTok-famous-for ordering motion is a real revenue driver, especially after a creator video starts trending in a metro area). Music labels and entertainment brands embed creator showcase feeds on artist, label, and tour pages where behind-the-scenes clips and dance challenges keep visitors on the page longer than any static image gallery. Influencer agencies offer the multi-creator feed as a white-label deliverable across client sites, where each client account sees only their roster, branding adapts per client, and rights workflows are centralized in one Poper workspace. The common thread across every pattern is that creator video keeps visitors watching long enough to convert, which is exactly what the For You Page algorithm was optimized for in the first place.
A TikTok feed widget is an embeddable script that pulls vertical 9:16 videos from a connected TikTok creator or business account and displays them on a third-party website with autoplay muted, tap to unmute, native looping, and on-screen caption support.
